Moving forward after separation, divorce or bereavement

iStock_Frayed_ropeXSmall.jpgIf you are considering a separation or divorce but you are not sure whether this is the correct step to take, I can help you.  Before you make such a radical change in your life, it will be a good idea for us to get together to weigh up all of the options and then to go through a process with me which will include meetings either individually or with both partners, as well as following either the DISCOVERY programme or the How to be CALM and enjoy life programme, depending on your personal needs.

Alternatively if there has already been a loss in your life, whether through a separation, divorce or bereavement, then it is very likely that you will have been experiencing a huge range of emotions. This is a very difficult situation to be in and often one where your friends and family are unsure what to say to you and some of them may even end up avoiding you, at the time when you most need them to be there for you.

dreamstime_negative_emotions.jpgWhen you lose someone that you have been with for many years it feels as though you have a great gap in your life and this can be so difficult to fill.  You are probably feeling very emotional and in a state of turmoil, with your life having been turned upside down.  You may have known this was coming for a long time, or it may have happened quite suddenly.

Either way you are probably finding it difficult to even get out of bed in the morning on some days; however you know deep down that you need to try to pick up the pieces and carry on, both for your own sake and for those around you.

"As a result of coaching with Claire I now know that when I come across a difficult situation, instead of getting concerned, I just 'put it away' until I can discuss it with Claire.  Before I started coaching I felt frightened, upset, very aware of being alone and having difficulty knowing who I would turn to, to clear my head.  I now feel 'free' and comfortable.  The best part has been, knowing that there's someone who will listen and in doing so, helps one to go forward.  Great adjectives I would like to use about coaching with Claire are confidentiality, warmth, understanding and kindness.  After a coaching session I feel refreshed and energised."

If you would like to change things for the better and you would like to learn how to cope more easily with the new situation that you find yourself in then contact me or call me on 01295 272263 to arrange a 15 minute telephone conversation to discuss how working together will be beneficial for you.

If you are unsure as to the differences between coaching or counselling, then consider whether:

  • a) you feel as though you would like things to be dealt with in a very positive manner
  • b) you are feeling quite strong and keen to make a new start
  • c) you think it would be great to start feeling in control of your life again

or whether...

  • 1) you feel very low and emotional and do not feel strong enough to decide on a new direction just yet
  • 2) you just want to talk and be listened to effectively

If your situation seems more in line with a) b) and c) then you are well suited to coaching, however, if you feel closer to 1) and 2) then I would advise you to seek some counselling.  Once you feel stronger after having some counselling, you will benefit from working with me to plan your new direction.
